DEKAs Fat-Soluble Vitamin Delivery Technology
Certain nutrients, such as vitamins D, E K and A are oils as found in nature. They are often referred to as the oil-soluble or fat-soluble nutrients. Fat-soluble nutrients cannot directly be absorbed and used by your body. First they must be made to mix (emulsify) into water in your digestive system. Ordinarily, your digestive system accomplishes this emulsification with enzymes from your pancreas and bile salts from your liver. Sometimes there is a problem with the digestive system so that there is a shortage of the enzymes and/or bile salts necessary to emulsify these nutrients. This condition is called malabsorption.
Malabsorption leads to reduced absorption of vitamins D, E K and A. This often leads to deficiency of these nutrients. This can ultimately result in, sometimes serious, adverse health outcomes. DEKAs products come with a delivery technology that helps to overcome the lack of bile salts and pancreatic enzymes. This clinically proven technology helps to emulsify the fat-soluble nutrients in the gut so that they can be absorbed despite a shortage of bile salts and/or pancreatic enzymes.
